PROJECT SUMMARY:

The Happy Valley Elementary School / Middle School Project has been constructed on a 22 acre site adjacent to the previous Happy Valley Elementary School at 13865 SE King Rd., Happy Valley, OR 97086.  The previous school building remained in operation during the initial construction of the new facilities.  The new building is a total of 186,000 SF, including approximately 69,000 SF for the Elementary School and 117,000 SF for the Middle School.  The Elementary School (Kindergarten through 6th Grade) will accommodate 550 students, while the Middle School (7thth Grades) will accommodate 750 students.  Although the Elementary School & Middle School are adjoining within a single large structure, they will function as separate institutions.

Construction progress will be made simultaneously on both the Elementary School and Middle School portions of the building, but construction of the new Elementary School advanced more rapidly.   This enabled it to be put into operation for the start of the 2008-2009 school year.  The Middle School construction will be completed during the latter part of 2008. The Middle School will not be occupied as a Middle School until the 2009-2010 school year. Until that time, the new Middle School will be occupied by elementary students upon completion. 

 At the end of the 2007-2008 school year, the previous Elementary School was demolished.  Part of the overall program for this project is the construction of additional athletic fields and parking facilities at the site of the previous Elementary School.
