Major Construction:
Rex Putnam High School received major upgrades via the 2006 bond starting with the construction of the new Administration/Counseling area (2008).  The new Administration/Counseling area was constructed in the area that previously housed the Art classrooms.  This change made the main entry highly visible and easier to find.  The Art area was relocated to the southwest corner of the school adjacent to the new Administration/Counseling area.

A new Commons was constructed in the area formally housing of Administration/Counseling offices.  What was once the old Administration Area was completely razed and the new glass-encased Commons constructed.  Work on this phase of the project started in January 2009 and was completed in  August, 2009.  The new Commons is a two story large open area that flows into the main corridors on both north and south side.  Both the Kitchen and Servery completely reconstructed to improve work flow and incorporate up-to-date equipment.


Minor Remodel:
The old Weight Room was located away from the main Gym.  To improve the overall functionality, the new Weight Room will be relocated adjacent to the gym on the main floor.  A new HVAC system will be added to provide the proper air circulation.

Six Science Rooms and Media Center were renovated to bring both areas up to date. 

To make room for the new Administration/Counseling area the Lecture Hall will be  moved south.  Work on this area began in September 2009 and is scheduled for completion in December 2009.

Cosmetic Upgrades:
Throughout the school new paint, replacement of all VAT flooring, ceiling tile, HVAC upgrades, marker boards, tack boards, security door access, new lockers, new clocks.

Stadium grandstands were painted and upgraded.

 Move in Date  August, 2009
Completion Date: September, 2009 (Work on Lecture Hall will continue until Dec. 2009)

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES:
  • In the Summer of 2010 the exterior of the building will be painted and repairs were performed on the exterior north wall of the A Classroom Wing.
  • In the Summer of 2011 work is scheduled to upgrade the stadium rest rooms and install new counter tops in C Wing Classrooms.
  • All other bond related work at Rex Putnam High School has been completed.

 

Summer 2008:
  •  All classrooms were ready and opened for students on the first day of school.

 

December 2008:
  • Finish C wing Administration Area remodel. (Dec. 08)
 
Summer 2009 (Completion Date):
  • Science Rooms remodel/upgrade. (Aug. 09)
  • Student Commons Renovation (Aug. 09)
  • Weight room and Kitchen remodel. (Aug. 09)
  • New Auditorium Lift. (Aug. 09)
